Gaps in Health Care System – Emma (clip 2)

Emma feels that she suffered because she could not pay out-of-pocket for counselling.

Transcript

There is one organization that provides private care, but it’s pay for – there’s a fee for service, which I think is another barrier. You’re on maternity leave, you’re not making as much money, the last thing on your list is you. You know, I always tell my husband, ‘I’m below the dog. My kids got what they need, my husbands’ got what they need, and then the dog’s got what he needs and then at the bottom, if there’s anything left, it’s like OK, well, I can have little leftovers’, you know. So, when you’re on mat leave, and you’re like, ‘oh man, I’m struggling’ and you see that there’s a fee for service, or that you have to pay for counseling, like I was saying, I couldn’t keep up with the cost of counseling, so you just suffer. There’s really no other alternative, just I guess suffer, because there’s nothing, which is very frustrating.
